On behalf of our entire board and staff, thank you for standing behind the Asian community in helping businesses reopen, recover and move forward. We value the dedication in keeping your employees and customer safe through these challenging times as we continue focusing on serving your needs and meeting our commitments in helping you prepare for what’s ahead.
These have not been easy times for any of us, and we have adapted by bringing our programs online in continually educating businesses through our ACC Learning Platform. By highlighting resources such as the Small Business Administration, Paycheck Protection Program and Economic Injury Disaster Loans as well as the government changes in employment regulations and shifting in the supply chain, we have conducted over 12 virtual webinars in the span of three months. Last month, we announced our new website and mobile app in celebrating our 30th year serving the Houston business community. These are new ways for members to help advertise their products and services and be available at their fingertips.
The Asian Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with 70 organizations, have been actively working to provide personal protective equipment (PPE) to hospitals, first responders, and community organizations. In total, over $3 million worth of PPEs were donated to
In addition, the Chamber collaborated with the Asian Americans Salute Frontline Heroes campaign to raise over $120,000 to provide meals for our hardworking heroes. Over 10,000 meals were delivered to 50 dedicated professional groups. By purchasing the meals from restaurants in Asia Town, many who are having a difficult time, we were able to support both the member restaurants as well as the heroes we served.
Several full page ads were placed in the Houston Chronicle to not only acknowledge the contributions made by Asian American organizations in this time of need but also to spotlight prominent Asian Americans who are serving and making a difference in our community.
We also recognize our great nation and our surrounding communities acknowledging the racial disparities and challenges of bridging the gap of diversity and inclusion. We support dialogs that lead to changes affecting the black community and the Asian community have and will continue standing together beyond color, race or nationality.
As we monitor and adapt to the changing situation each day, and the climbing spread of those affected, we realized the ever importance of pushing out solid programs that offer business opportunities of trade and open dialogs of sharing ideas. The Asian Chamber is pleased to announce our annual business conference will be moving forward on a virtual interactive platform in October with the focus of driving new business and topics of trade both locally and globally. We will also host our new supplier diversity academy both at the end of the 3rd and beginning of the 4th Quarter.
We are striving new ways to improve and expand our programs and will continue to keep you posted on major changes and updates.
